Our Story

After serving as associate pastors for many years at City Harvest Church in Vancouver, Washington, Jonathan and Raydeane Owens felt God was calling them to start a church in Northern Idaho. In June of 2006, they planted Heart of the City Church in Coeur d' Alene with a team of nine adults and their families.

Heart of the City Church had its first church service in July of 2006, touching Kootenai County with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and acts of service to the community. We moved around a bit our first two years holding services at the Harding Center, Fernan School and the Seventh Day Adventist Church before moving into our first building on Indiana Ave.

We have grown quite a bit since that time and now our church serves hundreds of families with two services on Sunday and one on Saturday night at our new home here at Lincoln Way and Emma Ave. We are deeply involved in reaching our community for Christ in tangible ways that people can see. We hold many community outreaches throughout the year and our food bank serves more than 200 families on a weekly basis. We are also involved in global outreach in countries and regions of the world that have yet to hear the Gospel.

It is our heart and intent to share God's love, making it possible for all people to have a personal relationship with Jesus; thus being able to fulfill the great purpose for their lives. Our goal is to be a people after God's own heart, and that is our pursuit and passion here at Heart of the City Church. We can't think of a better way to show our love toward the Father, than by pursuing the passion of His heart - people!
